What is a law?

The main types of laws include criminal; civil; administrative; constitutional; traffic; environmental protection etcetera.

What is the difference between laws, statutes, and codes?

Laws, statutes, and codes are all different ways of describing the same thing: the law. Laws are general principles that govern the behavior of people in society. Statutes are laws made by legislatures (or other legislative bodies). Codes are also called case law or common law; they’re derived from cases decided by courts over time.

As you can see, there’s a lot of variety when it comes to how laws get written down in books and websites, and even more when we look at how they’re applied on a daily basis!

Can I break or disobey these laws?

You can break a law if you are not aware of it. You can also disobey a law if it is not morally right or justified, such as stealing from someone or lying to them. However, there are certain situations where breaking the law is considered illegal and punishable by law enforcement officials. For example:

• If someone breaks into your house while you’re sleeping at night and steals all of your possessions (even though they did not use violence against you), then this would be considered trespassing onto private property without permission which could lead to jail time and fines depending on how much money was stolen from each item worth more than $500 USD per person.
• If drivers run red lights at intersections without signaling their intentions first before entering busy streets filled with pedestrians crossing through crosswalks before reaching intersections in order to avoid accidents caused by distracted drivers speeding around corners too quickly because they won’t get somewhere fast so that other drivers don’t slow down traffic behind them due fear/anxiety about being late again after getting stuck behind another vehicle only able stay ahead due package reliable transportation options available within the geographical area where location selected for employment purposes.”

What is a legal system?

Basic laws

It contains all other laws passed by Congress or other agencies like courts or executive departments; also called “constitutional” legislation because it was created before most laws were created through legislation (called statutory or common law).

For example: if someone steals something from another person who has been found guilty of theft then they will go to jail for breaking this rule set forth under Article 2 Section 1 Clause 2 which states “No person shall be held criminally responsible unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Civil law

Civil law is a body of laws that govern the rights and responsibilities of people. This type of law applies to private individuals and businesses, as opposed to criminal law, which deals with public matters.

Civil laws are based on fairness, compassion, and empathy—and they’re designed to protect people from being harmed by others. They typically focus on what’s fair in terms of treatment between two parties (like an employer-employee relationship), rather than focusing on punishment or retribution for wrongdoing committed by one party against another (which is more common in criminal codes).

Criminal law

Criminal law is a body of laws that define crimes and criminal offenses. Criminal cases are brought before the courts for adjudication, with the goal being to punish those who violate the law.

Criminal cases are different from civil or family cases in that they do not involve private disputes between individuals, but rather involve the enforcement of public policy by the state against someone else’s actions. In other words, criminal charges are brought against individuals who have harmed someone else through their actions or inaction (or even inaction).

Law and morality in a human society

The law is often used to oppress minorities and the powerless. For example, in many countries around the world, laws are created that criminalize homosexuality and make it illegal for gay people to marry or have children. This can be considered immoral because these laws do not represent what we would want our society to be like.

The law also has been used to protect powerful groups from being held accountable for their actions. For example, if one company is accused of polluting a river with toxic waste or dumping toxic chemicals into it (which causes serious health problems), then this company can hire lawyers who will try their best not only to win but also to keep charges against them secret so they don’t lose money or face other consequences such as jail time!
