3 Easy Steps to Join the ‘Among Us VR’ Beta

Interested in trying ‘Among Us VR‘ for yourself? Then we’ve got good news for you. It’s time to start the waiting game, because we’re preparing to open up our beta testing phase, and we can’t wait to have more players join us! In the meantime, here are three easy steps to get you on your way to joining our ranks.

Step 1: Download ‘Among Us’

Among Us VR is a cyberpunk thriller and puzzle game with an intriguing story that follows the characters and events unfolding in a world parallel to our own. Get the beta by going on your platform’s store and downloading the Among Us VR Beta app. To access the beta, you’ll need a beta key, which is only available through purchase of ‘Among Us VR’ at any price level on Steam.

On Steam, you can find ‘Among Us’ in two forms. ‘Among Us’ is a bundle that includes all future episodes, whereas ‘The Novel Among Us’ is just a single episode for $10 USD and does not include any of its future episodes. To access any future episodes on Steam, you’ll need to have bought either game and redeemed your beta key there. You can also buy games directly through our website with your payment method of choice using Humble Widget.

Step 2: Meet The Characters

This step is where you will meet the game’s characters and learn more about the game’s story. You will be introduced to the four main characters of ‘Among Us VR’ – Alysa, Daniel, Luke, and Victoria. These character profiles will give you a quick overview of their personality traits as well as a few surprises along the way. When reading each profile, try not to judge them too quickly based on the first few sentences- they are just brief introductions! Read carefully and see what different sides of these people become clear in later sections. Choose which character you would like to continue on this journey with by interacting with that character’s text bubble.

After you choose a character, read further down into their profile section and begin reading about their childhood experiences. Many of these have had a huge influence on them later in life- you will see certain patterns emerging as you continue reading about each character’s childhood. You can move through each character’s childhood experiences by swiping left or right on your controller. Did one of them lose his parents at a young age? Did one grow up under extreme poverty conditions? Did another have a relatively easy upbringing? Were any characters physically or sexually abused during their childhoods? How did that affect their personalities now that they are adults? In which ways might these events have shaped who they are today? What factors influenced these characters’ overall happiness and well-being while growing up?

Among Us Inc. was founded in 2016 by Adam Warne and Nathan Price, graduates of Purdue University. While both had participated in a number of extracurricular activities during their time at Purdue, neither had taken on entrepreneurial ventures before. However, one class that both Warne and Price took would come back to influence Among Us significantly; Phil Hoffman’s (PhD ‘97) entrepreneurship course gave them an intensive introduction into not only how entrepreneurs think, but what it takes to be successful in such a role. Hoffman encouraged his students to think big; among those thoughts was virtual reality entertainment and socialization–some business concepts around which many industries are rapidly evolving right now.
